Our Rescue Station always need volunteers who are medically fit, live within 15 minutes of the Station, have reliable transport and who are willing to be trained in courses such as; · Advanced First Aid · Fire Fighting · Navigation · VHF (Marine) Radio Operations · Seamanship · Boat Handling · Four wheel driving · Search and Rescue procedures · Incident Command · Helicopter Rescue Techniques · Technical Rope Rescue We pride ourselves on our high standard of training and all new recruits are required to serve a 12 month probation period where they are given every opportunity to acquire at least the first four skills listed above. In addition to this they will need at least 30 hours of "sea time" of which at least 3 hours will be carried during the hours of darkness before being awarded the rescue "CREW" status. Recruits with acquired these and who have certified copies certificates or log books will be given credit for "prior learning" but will still be required to do a 12 month probation period before being awarded their "CREW" status.
