Fund-raising

The National Sea Rescue Institute is a completely independent organisation that relies almost entirely on voluntary subscriptions to finance its operations.

Nearly R10 million has to be raised each year in order to run the rescue service. Because volunteer crew staffs the NSRI it has been possible to run this service within a relatively small budget. While the main centre for fund-raising activities is situated at the Institute’s head office in Cape Town where the staff’s primary task is to raise funds each rescue station actively tries to assist by raising the funds needed to stay operational.

This is sometimes difficult as we try to keep our crew members focussed on the objectives of saving lives on our waters which in itself requires a lot of training time.

However we have managed to raise some of the money needed through our "Family Adventure Day" held every year in the Koeberg Nature Reserve.

Individual and organisation are therefore asked to keep us in mind when deciding which organisation to sponsor or support.

Please contact the Station Commander if you are in a position to support our Station. He can be contacted on +82 990-5958 or by email on statcom@nsri18.org.za.
